How to choose

Dose titration is the whole job. Choose services that arrange repeat thyroid labs at appropriate intervals after any dose change rather than issuing a standing prescription and leaving you on it unmonitored.

How it works

Complete thyroid function testing, have a licensed clinician interpret your TSH and free T4, start or adjust levothyroxine where indicated, and repeat labs after the interval needed for levels to stabilise.

What you get

  • Testing and treatment coordinated in one remote pathway
  • Dose changes guided by repeat labs, not symptoms alone
  • Refills managed without repeat clinic visits

Hypothyroidism questions, answered

How is hypothyroidism diagnosed?

Diagnosis is based on blood tests, principally TSH with free T4, sometimes alongside thyroid antibodies. Symptoms such as fatigue, cold intolerance, weight change and dry skin are suggestive but far too non-specific to diagnose on their own.

How is levothyroxine dosed?

Dosing is individualised by weight, age, cardiac history and how far levels are from target, then titrated based on repeat TSH testing. Levels take several weeks to stabilise after a change, so retesting too early gives misleading results.

How should levothyroxine be taken?

Typically on an empty stomach with water, separated from food and from calcium, iron and certain other medications and supplements, which reduce absorption. Consistency matters: taking it the same way every day keeps levels stable.
